March On from Bligh Park to Port Macquarie

On Friday the 23rd of February my husband and I plan to walk from our house in Bligh Park to Port Macquarie, to fundraise money for Soldier On.

We want to  raise funds for Soldier On's life-changing mental health services and programs so that our returned ADF members and their families can march on.

My Dad was conscripted to the Vietnam War where he was severely injured. Over the years his health deteriorated and he was confined to a wheelchair for 30 years before passing away in 2017. Mum was his full time carer. He spent a lot of time in and out of hospital having many operations. Despite this they travelled many times around Australia, first in a Kombi, then in a motorhome. It was very taxing on Mum but she looked after him exceptionally well. I don’t know how Dad kept his sense of humour with all that he endured, but he did and I think this made it a little easier for Mum to look after him.

Even though Dad was an incomplete quadriplegic he always said “There is someone worse off than yourself”

This is why I’m doing this.
