Letter to the public - Why I am TRI-ING to raise Funds for Soldier OnTuesday 4th Jan
Thanks for your support.
HELL OF THE WEST GOONDIWINDI LONG COURSE TRIATHLON
Good morning family and friends. I hope you are all enjoying the Christmas festive and holiday season. I have some very exciting news to share with you as we move into the new year. On the 6th of February 2022 I will be competing in the Festival of Hell, in Queensland’s toughest triathlon!
The Distance: A MURKEY 2KM SWIM – A BURNING 80KM
CYCLE – AND A 20KM HOT AS HELL RUN!
THE BARAMBAH ORGANICS HELL OF THE WEST IS an iconic Long Course Triathlon event that started in 1989 and has seen some world’s best athletes complete. This will be the most physically and mentally demanding challenge I have ever tasked myself with. It is also my birthday gift to myself as it occurs 2 days before my birthday on the 8th of Feb. Yes, I guess I am a little bit crazy! While it is a challenge, and I am challenging and competing mainly against myself, I will be putting in 110% effort in training preparation over the 1 month leading up to the event. I will also be competing on the day to the very best of my ability and pushing myself past my limits while ensuring I am participating safely for my health and wellbeing first and foremost.
I would like to announce that as a major part of this
challenge I will be collaborating and fundraising as much money as I can for
Soldier On Australia and for the great services and support they provide for
the Australian Defence Force current serving members, the veteran community and
their families. My humble goal is $1500, and I believe with all of your help that
we can reach that number within 1 month. If you could please contribute even $5,
$20 $50 to this fundraiser myself and Soldier On would greatly appreciate it; and
you will help to do your part to help support the veteran community.
This is a charity organisation close to my heart as I am a Soldier in the Australian Army Reserves. I enlisted on the 4th of August 2016 and can say it has been a great honour, challenge, joy, and a very rewarding mission - serving the country’s interests and protecting our people. While I will be training in the leadup to the event - every metre, every kilometre, every swim, ride, and run and on race day, will be dedicated to this greater cause.
I would also like to pay my respects in remembrance of all those who have served and laid down their lives with the greatest sacrifice - for the freedom of future generations in Australia, our security and the peace and prosperity of the Nation. Thankyou again to all current and past serving members in the ADF for all the great work you do.
They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we Forget.
With ANZAC Spirit,
Thank you to my Sponsors
