Jason served as a Combat Engineer. Like many veterans, he loved the camaraderie.
But after a serious injury to both knees and shoulders during service, he was medically discharged, ending his career. He felt like he had lost everything.
“It wasn’t my decision. I had put everything into being the best soldier I could be, and suddenly I had nothing. I didn’t know who I was anymore.”
Jason’s struggle took him to the edge.
“The physical pain from the injury and feelings of isolation felt neverending. At one point, I thought it would be easier for my wife and son if I just wasn’t here anymore. I couldn’t keep fighting. I felt completely worn out.”
That was the tipping point for Jason.

Initially Jason came to us to join our social and employment programs, however, eventually joined our team and is now our Career and Education Support Manager.
